In hot weather, the monument adapts

Visiting conditions according to heatwave alert levels

YELLOW: Heatwave

Visiting conditions at the monument remain unchanged and tours of the Alignments are continuing as normal.

ORANGE: Heatwave

Tours are still taking place but may be cancelled during the hottest part of the day (afternoon)

RED: Extreme heatwave

Guided tours will not take place at the sites.

The Maison des Mégalithes remains open, subject to specific instructions from the authorities. The shop may close. The reception area, video room and exhibition spaces remain accessible. Closing times may be brought forward. 

Good to know

  • The Maison des mégalithes offers areas sheltered from the sun, as well as shaded areas around the building. Find out more
  • A water fountain is available inside the building to fill your water bottle.
  • In summer, discovery tours for all ages are scheduled in the morning; on certain days, the menhir walk is also available, which can be a good alternative to the afternoon heat. Check the calendar. Rememberto dress appropriately for the guided tour, as the sites are exposed to the sun.
  • The self-guided walk around the stone alignments along the footpaths offers shaded spots along the route, such as at Ménec Nord, Kermario, the Géant du Manio, from the Kermaux tower to Kerlescan, and the Petit Ménec. The route passes through wooded areas.
  • The footpath starting opposite Toul Chignan and leading to the Saint-Michel Tumulus runs through woodland.
  • An ice cream parlour is set up on the forecourt throughout the summer.
  • Drink plenty of water, cover your head, and avoid going out during the hottest part of the day... Check all the recommendations from the health authorities
